Worship

The heart of the Worship Arts team at SAC is to enable a community to worship freely amidst the Spirit of God and to see people exercise their creative abilities for His glory. We use several ways to 'creatively communicate' the message of hope that is found through Jesus Christ.

If you are interested in joining our team, please email Pastor Connie Siebert or call 604-853-2663.

At South Abbotsford Church, we value a place where people feel safe. To aid in this, all of our volunteers are required to fill out an application form, a volunteer covenant and read SAC: A Safe Place.

3d Classes

Why "3d"?

It has often been said that we have a God-shaped vacuum in our souls. We long to have that vacuum filled, but most often we tend to be satisfied with just the basics of faith that leave us unsatisfied. The result is a sense of emptiness that won't go away. But God longs to take us away from our spiritual snorkeling and wants to take us deeper with Him - call it spiritual scuba-diving.

That's what the Integrated Learning Center is all about and that's why we're inviting you to "3d" - Disciples Diving Deeper. If we're to dive more deeply into God, we'll need to be trained and equipped just like scuba divers. "3d" exists to help us experience God in fresh and new ways, giving us life that can't help but be shared with our family, friends and colleagues.

Current Opportunities: All Classes are Sunday mornings at 10am.

A Diet That Really Does Trasform You!
Why Diet?
Check out the magazines around the checkout counter of your grocery store! Everybody is ready to make you amazing promises about how their product or their method is going to change your life.
"Get the look you've always wanted!"
"Feel more energetic!"
"Build that six-pack!"
Emphasis - QUICK and EASY!
The bible talks about dieting and transformation too. It talks about going from "milk to meat". It talks about being transformed! Is inner transformation quick and easy too? Squash can be grown quickly, but oak trees take years to grow. God's into building oak trees, so we're looking at a continuous process of growth... and we believe our spring session of 3d can help you with that!

Minor Prophets - Major Impact (meet in room S115)
Ron Voth - is currently an instructor at Columbia Bible College. He is married to Charon and they are parents to Kristin and Christopher.
We'll mine the Minor Prophets for gems that lie hidden among them. We will see spectacular expressions of God's grace in this sober sounding section of scripture. Some of these prophets simply state the message, others draw word pictures, and yet others read people's minds out loud. For example, Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi speak to a weary people, with poor faith priorities, of God. In the end, all shine God's light on the situation of His people.

Take it To the Limit (meet in The Getaway)
DVD Series by Andy Stanley - from Atlanta, GA
Our culture encourages us to live as if we have no limits. So we fill up our schedules and empty our bank accounts. This six-part DVD shows that the secret to getting more out of life i not by doing more, but by doing less.

Womens Ministries

Connecting Points
9:00-11:00am Wednesday mornings

Connecting Points is a weekday morning opportunity for women of all ages to connect with each other. It's a time to meet up with old friends, and a time to meet new friends. It's a time to give and receive encouragement. The morning starts with coffee and conversation, followed by a brief devotional and the class of your choice. The spring session runs from April 2 to May 21.
Child care is offered for a small fee for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Mothers with children under 6 months are invited to bring their infants to class with them.

For further information, please email Charlene Foster or contact her at 604-853-2663.

Evening Edition
7:00pm Thursday evenings

Evening Edition is a group of women who are active in the workforce and meet weekly in the Getaway to encourage each other and learn together. The evening starts with coffee and refreshments at 7:00pm, followed by a time of study and prayer. The winter session runs from April 3 to May 22.
Kathy Moodie is leading discussions based on videos from Women of Faith.
Please email Norma Neufeld or contact her at 604-850-9390 for further information.

First Time Moms
1:00-3:00pm Wednesday afternoons

Becoming a mom for the first time is a joyful and also challenging transition. You're invited to join other new mothers and their babies on Wednesday afternoons for a time of connecting, sharing and learning. Our schedule generally alternates weekly between a slightly structured teaching time, and a more relaxed "play date" at the park or the church. For more information and schedule details, please email Sarah Goerzen or contact her at 778-808-4061 or email Charlene Foster or contact her at 604-853-2663.

Thursday Play Group
9:30-11:00am Thursday mornings

If you're looking for relaxed place to come where your young children can play and you can meet other moms, come to the church nursery on Thursday mornings. Sometimes we also meet at the park or plan group outings. For more information, email Kelly Ens or contact her at 604-557-1927.

Prayer Blankets
9:00-11:00am Wednesday mornings

Our prayer blanket ministry is one practical way we show God's love to people in need. Meeting in the board room, women create fleece blankets by cutting and knotting the edges. As they make the blankets, they pray for the person who will be receiving it. The blankets are given along with a note expressing the hope that the warmth of the blanket will remind them of the warmth of God's love. The blankets are distributed with the help of partners in the local community. The prayer blanket class has finished up for this year, and will start again in the fall. For more information contact the church office 604-853-2663.

Meals and Necessities for Women through Abbotsford

DivorceCare for Kids

DivorceCare for Kids is a special group to help children ages 5 - 12 years heal from the hurt caused by the separation or divorce of their parents. At their weekly DC4K group, kids make friends with other kids who understand how they feel and the things they are going through because of the divorce of their parents.

Best of all, children will learn how God's love can strengthen them and help turn tears to hope and joy!

What's it like?
The DC4K group meets weekly in 13-week cycles. We combine games, crafts, activities, music and DVD dramas to create a fun atmosphere where children feel comfortable and accepted. They look forward to each time their DC4K "family" gets together.

Family support
DivorceCare for Kids is structured to replicate a large family environment. Children from the same family are kept together because they often look to each other for security during the divorce experience.

Parent involvement
Parents are encouraged to be involved with their children as the children go through DC4K. Each parent will receive a weekly "Parent Page" describing what the child has learned and offering tips to strengthen the parent/child relationship, creating stronger bonds in the single parent family.

DivorceCare connectivity
DC4K follows the same schedule and age-appropriate themes as the adult DivorceCare program, allowing parents and children to progress through the healing process together and providing a springboard for meaningful discussions. Session are currently on:

Monday, January 7
7:00 - 9:00pm

Content
DC4K is nondenominational and features biblical teaching to help children recover from the hurt of separation and divorce.

Fun and interesting
Children are engaged and active while participating in a DivorceCare for Kids group. Each session combines the following elements:

    games
    group discussion
    story time
    music
    workbook
    crafts
    DVD dramas
    snacks

DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life's most difficult experiences. Don't go through separation or divorce alone.

Our support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You'll gain access to valuable resources to help you deal with the pain of the past and look forward to rebuilding your life.

"It brought me stability, healing and hope for the future."
"Best thing I've ever done for myself."
"DivorceCare has changed me from bitter and angry to forgiving."
"It helped me release my anger and depression and take responsibility for my actions."
"Every chapter, every page, every word was used to help restore my life."

What's it like?
Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they've ever faced. It's a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you've never faced before. You don't have to go through it alone.

Our group meets weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each DivorceCare session has two distinct elements:

A Seminar with Experts

During the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting, we watch a video seminar featuring top experts on divorce and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies and on-location video.

A Support Group with Focus

After viewing the video, DivorceCare group participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week's video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members.

Who is DivorceCare for?
DivorceCare is for anyone who has or is going through the pain of a divorce.

What will it cost?
$25 - Bursaries are available if needed.

When and where?
Monday evenings, 7pm here at SAC

For more information, please email the office or contact us at 604-853-2663. Please note: Registration is not needed to attend DivorceCare.

For more information about DivorceCare, you can visit the official website.
