Student Ministries at South Abbotsford Church is planning a summer service experience for students currently in grades 8-12. The purpose of the trip will be to challenge us to share the love of Jesus through acts of service, allow God to work in and through us, and experience different ways to serve right here in the Lower Mainland, as well as in San Pedro, California.

SERVE 2017 will incorporate a variety of different types of service, consisting of two components: 1) helping to run South Abbotsford Church’s Summer Blast daycamp and serving alongside organizations and felt needs throughout the Lower Mainland in the afternoons, and 2) taking the same daycamp program to Bethany Christian Fellowship and serving in the afternoons with felt needs in San Pedro. From working with soup kitchens, doing grunt work, impacting the environment and coming alongside a church and organizations working with the marginalized, participants will be challenged to discover and use the gifts God has given them.

For the first week (July 3-7), students will be provided with transportation and meals while serving, but all participants will go home for accommodations at the end of the service day.

The second week (July 9-19), we will be partnering with Bethany Christian Fellowship in San Pedro to provide the Summer Blast daycamp to their church (who would not have the resources otherwise). Participants will tear-down South Abbotsford Church's Summer Blast daycamp on Sunday after church and then head out from there to San Pedro and set up for another full week. All accommodations will be provided by Bethany Christian Fellowship in gender specific sleeping quarters.

The trip will be longer as we will be driving down to California, with plans to stay at a church for one night each way. We will be running a minimum 1:7 adult leader to student ratio for the California portion.

The 2017 team has been selected; applications are no longer being received.
